Bristol networking event – July 2024

Last week (27th June), Roger Dugan from Asertis and I journeyed to Bristol for the latest instalment of The 500 Club.

It was wonderful to see many of my existing contacts from the area, as well as to make new acquaintances. A smaller gathering than our last few events gave everyone the opportunity for more in-depth conversations. Personally, I’m excited about the opportunities for collaboration in the future that came from discussions on the night.

We stuck with a tried and tested venue for the occasion, Le Vignoble, and the evening proved to be a genuine success. Many attendees shared positive feedback about the gathering, and the picturesque waterfront setting always adds a special touch to the experience.

In the company of esteemed professionals from firms such as Annecto, Begbies, Stephens Scown, Taylor Rose, Temple Bright and VWV, the room was abuzz with engaging conversations and a warm atmosphere, accompanied by a great selection of wines! All in all, another fantastic few hours of informal networking.

Our aim at these events is to bring together likeminded professionals from the insolvency, finance, legal, and related fields to network and connect in an informal setting.

The 500 Club regularly takes place across the UK, in cities including Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and London. Our next Bristol event is planned for 12th October. The 500 Club’s next stop is Southampton (for our inaugural event in the city) on 18th July. With many new cities added for 2024, there’s a good chance we’ll be coming to a city near you soon! Leeds networking event – June 2024

Last week (27th June) Roger Dugan from Asertis, Gareth Fitzgerald from CAPA, Mike Wright and I hosted The 500 Club in Leeds for the second time this year.

Following our recent busy London and Manchester events, Leeds proved to be just as successful. A more intimate gathering provided the platform for more in-depth conversations with all of our guests.

I had a wonderful couple of hours with professionals from many different firms, such as Addlestone Keane, Begbies Traynor, BW Legal, DLA Piper and Gordons. Good conversations were had by all over a glass or 2, with ample opportunity for introductions to new contacts, and long-overdue catch ups with old friends.

Of course, if you’ve seen my LinkedIn post, you know another highlight of the evening was the amusing sign on the door to the bathrooms in The Lost & Found Leeds Club!

Our aim at these events is to bring together likeminded professionals from the insolvency, finance, legal, and related fields to network and connect in an informal setting.

Manchester networking event – June 2024

Last week (19th June) Chris Jones from Asertis, Gareth Fitzgerald from CAPAMike Wright, Liam Geoghegan and I returned to Manchester for another evening of successful networking, hot on the heels of our London event only 5 days before.

As usual, the turnout was brilliant and it was great to see many of our existing contacts, as well as brand new ones.

With another new venue tested, this time North Westward Ho, the evening was a real triumph, with several commenting not only on their enjoyment of the evening itself, but also the backdrop to which it was held.

With a multitude of professionals in the room, including the likes of Begbies Traynor, Forbes Solicitors, Inquesta, Kuits and Quantuma, it was fantastic to see everyone engaging in good conversation over a couple of drinks, and (as always) it was a pleasure to be involved.

Our aim is to bring together likeminded professionals from the insolvency, finance, legal, and related fields to network and connect in an informal setting.

London networking event – June 2024

Yesterday (13th June), Roger Dugan from Asertis, Gareth Fitzgerald and Mike Sheath from CAPA, and Mike Wright, Caitlin Duncan and I brought The 500 Club to The Last Judgment on Chancery Lane.

As always, there was a strong turnout from a great variety of professionals – including those from BDO, Cardium Law, Five Paper, JMW and Longmores – with plenty of opportunities for conversation and introductions to various people in the industry.

The Last Judgment – a new venue for us – provided a vibrant atmosphere.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was great to see plenty of new faces at the event, as well as old friends.

What’s better than spending an evening in good company, chatting over a glass of wine or 2!?

Newcastle networking event – May 2024

Last Thursday (30th May), Roger Dugan and Chris Jones from Asertis, Gareth Fitzgerald from CAPA, and I brought our networking event The 500 Club to Newcastle upon Tyne for the very first time.

The evening, held at The Alchemist in Newcastle, was a fantastic experience, as described by both the hosts and attendees. A variety of professionals attended from companies including Clarke Mairs, FRP Advisory, Gibsons Law, Opus, and Womble Bond Dickinson. We all enjoyed a few drinks and engaging conversations in a relaxed setting.

For our first event in Newcastle, it had a great turnout and atmosphere. People were really interested in learning more about our event since it was our first time hosting here, and they showed enthusiasm for future events in the area. Overall, it was a great success, with plenty of opportunities for conversation and introductions to various professionals in the industry.

Our aim is to bring together like-minded professionals from the insolvency, finance, legal, and related fields to network and connect in an informal setting.

Last week, we were back in Manchester for the latest installment in The 500 Club networking event series. Mark Dickson (Risk Management) hosted at The Alchemist Spinningfields alongside Roger Dugan from our co-hosts Asertis.

Mark and Roger were joined by guests including lawyers and insolvency practitioners for our first Manchester event since the end of the summer.

We’re in Birmingham on Thursday this week for a private guided wine tasting at Loki Wine Merchant & Tasting House in the historic Great Western Arcade, followed by Baranis in central London next week.

Liverpool networking event

Last week, we met for our fortnightly networking event, hosted by ESA Risk’s Mike Wright (Risk Management & Investigations Consultant) and Roger Dugan from our co-host, Asertis.

The evening took place in Liverpool Gin Distillery, a picturesque bar in central Liverpool. We brought together professionals from law firms, insolvency practitioners and more, to network over a few drinks.

Roger Dugan shared that “it was a great evening, to be with old faces and new faces alike”.

The 500 Club series of events takes place fortnightly across the UK in cities including London, Leeds and Manchester. We aim to bring together professionals from various industries to connect in an informal setting. We’ll be at Bunghole Cellars in London at the end of this month. London networking event

Back to London for our end-of-September networking event, hosted by ESA Risk’s Mike Wright and J-P Pitt from our co-host, Asertis.

The evening was an enjoyable one for the hosts and attendees alike, to get out of the cold and into the delightful venue that is the Bunghole Cellars in Holborn.

The group included professionals from a range of companies who came together for a few drinks and good conversation. Our events are informal, allowing people to chat in a comfortable out-of-office setting.

After the event, Mike shared that the evening was “a very pleasant one: we all got to know each other, the venue was full, business cards were exchanged. All in all it was a good event.”

We aim to bring together professionals from various industries, to network and connect.

Birmingham networking event

ESA Risk’s Marketing Director and Roger Dugan from our co-host Asertis were joined by accountants, insolvency practitioners, lawyers and more for a private wine tasting at Loki Wine Merchant & Tasting House in Birmingham’s historic Great Western Arcade.

This was the first in-person networking event many of our guests had attended since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, so we were pleased to be returning some sense of normality to Birmingham’s professional community.

And Loki gave us a real treat with Champagne followed by a guided tasting of 5 excellent wines with some unexpectedly delicious choices, such as a white Bordeaux and a subtly complex red from Turkey. There were a few of us making notes of bottle labels at the end of the evening.

The conversation was flowing as easily as the wine, and that’s what these events are all about – connecting like-minded professionals for good conversation in a relaxed setting.

The 500 Club is an event series jointly hosted by ESA Risk and Asertis. The invitation-only networking events are usually held twice a month at locations across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and others.

We’re in London next week, followed by Liverpool in mid-October.

The 500 Club in Soho

Hidden away behind a discreet door on Shaftsbury Avenue, Soho’s exclusive Century Club was the venue for last week’s installment in The 500 Club networking event series. Ali Twidale (Banking & Financial Fraud) hosted alongside Roger Dugan and J-P Pitt from our co-hosts Asertis.

Joined by guests including lawyers and insolvency professionals, we took over Century’s Club Room to talk insolvency, working practices in the post-Covid world, skiing, and much more.
